INFORMATION:What is a Lathe Cut Record?

Lathe Cutting is a process which utilizes a sharp cutting stylus to engrave or emboss sound grooves onto a disk. Lathe cut records are an alternative to the modern practice of pressing records with metal plates.
Lathe cut records are not a direct substitute for pressed records. Lathe cuts are always 100% hand-made, in real time. If the record is 10 minutes long, it took 10 minutes to cut plus an extensive setup time to make your record sound as great as possible. This labor, along with maintenance and the knowledge required to produce these, make lathe cuts slightly more expensive (per piece) than a larger pressing of vinyl.
The benefits are minimums that are much lower (25 vs 300+), turnaround time is quicker (usually 1 month or less vs 4+ months), and the format is more flexible. Unfortunately, small runs and quick turnaround times require a sacrifice of some fidelity and volume. All records will be playable and enjoyable, but will NOT sound identical to the master recording and may have difficulty being played on very low end turntables. If fidelity is your sole interest in vinyl records, we highly recommend you use a pressing plant.
These records should be treated like unique works of playable, musical art.
This is a very small,personal label based out of Chicago,for my personal projects and for putting out releases of underappreciated,or unheard of bands Who I believe need to be exposed to the light of day and need to be heard.

ABOUT THE RECORDS...
Although lathe cuts are more lo-fi and not as good sound quality as standard vinyl,my records are extremely short run(most limited to 25 pieces,
50 at most) and most likely will never be run in standard vinyl format unless i win the fucking lottery.However,MurderPunk Records looks at every record pressed as a unique work of art and an instant collectors item.
Will also plan to be putting out several Standard Vinyl releases from the funds i make from sales.(A 12" 100 press version of the STDs - "Addicted to Violence" is in the works as i speak)
Pretty much every project i release will be limited to 100 or less hand numbered copies,so they will all be collectible.
These projects are a labor of love and NOT intended to be run for profit,Most money made goes right back into funding the next release.My goal is to put out quality and affordable (for me and the customer)releases of my personal projects and releases of bands that i love and think need to be heard.Not sure how long this thing will last,so get em' while you can fuckers!!
